Herb is survived by his daughter Lia (Graham), brother Bob, sister in law Anne- Lise, nephews Philip (Dem), Ken (sumo), Doug (Jacquie)and Lorne (Marie), grandsons Matthew and Jeffrey, close friends Don and Doreen, and many other extended family and friends.
Herb was also predeceased by his brother Donald in April 2016.
Herb was born in Winnipeg, June 30, 1924, and departed this world on June 3, 2016 after 92 years.
He grew up in River Heights, and in 1943 he left the University of Manitoba to join the RCAF for WW2. He was discharged in 1946 and started working in the family business George N Jackson LTD. From 1947 for the next 7 years Herb spent time in and out of the Sanatorium at Ninette, Manitoba being treated for TB. It was there he met Ann Harder.
Herb and Ann were married September 15, 1954 and were best friends and fierce cribbage competitors for 46 years until Ann passed in 2000.
After Ann's passing Herb spent winter months in Palm Springs and summers in Winnipeg at the Canoe Club with dear friend Jean Gibb until her passing in June 2015.
Herb loved to golf, first at the Canoe Club, later as a member of Niakwa. He was twice master of AMORC (Rosicrucians), member of the Masonic Order, Khartum Shriner (active member of Drum and Bugle corps), and Director of the Royal Order of Jesters (in 2003). Herb retired from George N Jackson LTD as vice president in 1996 after 50 years.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Shrine House, 1155 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg (West entrance)
