After a brief illness, the family announces that our father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at St Boniface hospital.
He is lovingly remembered by his children Elfriede (Adolf), Wally (Ila), Kurt (Pam), Frank (Diana), as well as grandchildren Andreas (Ann), Rhea (Kevin), Melissa (Clayton) and 7 great grandchildren. Dad is pre deceased by his first wife Katharina, daughter Monika, his son Harry as well as his second wife Frieda.
Harry was born in Eigental, Ukraine and settled in Germany at the age of 17. He immigrated with his family into Canada in 1957 directly to Winnipeg. He worked almost 30 years for Dycks Containers and Forest Products retiring at age 58.
Harry travelled many times to see family and friends in Germany.
Dad was an avid gardener and loved to play chess while listening to his favourite German music. Dad enjoyed playing shuffleboard and pool with his good friend Paul Zink. Harry loved to work on his garden even at the age of 98 and was very proud of it.
Dad was able to stay in his home until he turned ill and spent his last days at St Boniface hospital and Misericordia. We would like to thank the staff at both hospitals for their compassion and care in his last few days.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
We thank everyone for their thoughts and condolences.
If you would like to remember Harry, in lieu of flowers, have a shot of Jägermeister.
Prost!!
