Daphne is survived by her son Richard(Ross) Wilcox of Dryden, Ontario; daughter Susan(John) Chenier of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Trevor Wilcox, Rob (Joelle) Wilcox, Trish Dougherty (Dale Owen), Tyler Wilcox, Michelle (Jeff) Gusdal, Ryan (Rosanna) Chenier, Lisa Chenier, Sharon (Gord) Fergusson and Barry Brick; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Daphne was predeceased by her husband Charles (Charlie) Thom Wilcox and son Charles (Chuck) Gilbert Wilcox.
Daphne was born and raised in Kenora, Ontario, the only child of Dr. Bert and Billie Gunne. In 1943 she married Charlie Wilcox. After the war she and Charlie moved with the Bank of Montreal to Port Arthur, Ontario, then to Winnipeg then Nipawin, Saskatchewan then back to Winnipeg then to Fort William, Ontario and finally back to Winnipeg in 1961 where she remained until her passing.
Daphne was active at the Wildewood Club with curling and golf for many years and loved bridge club and the bridge club ladies. She was an avid knitter and needle worker and a great cook. Prior to moving to Tuxedo Villa she spent several years at Riverwood Square where she made many new friends. The highlight of the year was always summer at Lake of the Woods with friends, extended family, and her dog Candy.
A Celebration of Daphne’s life will take place on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2:00pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Fort Garry, 830 North Drive.
