Eugenia Rose Zushman

Eugenia Rose Zushman passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 10, 2024.

She was survived by her loving husband Mike of 58 years, sons Micheal, Ken (Dora), grandson Aidan and several nieces, nephews and cousins who she adored immensely.

Eugenia was a lover of life who enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Buffalo Point, fishing on the boat, caring for her flowers and vegetable garden. As an avid reader, there was always a novel on the go and many mornings consisted of a scrabble game with her husband Mike. A passionate cook, Eugenia found joy in the kitchen, delighting her family and friends with her amazing cooking skills. Her meals were not only delicious but a reflection of her love and care for those she served. A devoted fan of the Winnipeg Jets, Eugenia could often be found cheering on her beloved team with enthusiasm and passion. Her love of the sport brought her joy and excitement, shared with her family. She was a wonderful person and a great asset to her husband within his business. Eugenia was a founding charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was actively involved in organizing many functions to raise money for the FOE and nonprofit organizations. Eugenia was a great leader within the organization functioning as secretary for several years. She also really enjoyed watching her grandson play hockey as often as she was able to. Bedtime stories, playing with the cat and computer games were one of her favourite pastimes with her grandson as he was growing up. Though Eugenia may have left this world, her love, laughter and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Eugenia’s career spanned over a period of 44 years. Initially she worked within the Faculty of Medicine and subsequently as the executive assistant to the Vice President Academics and Provost at the University of Manitoba.

Aside from her love of her immediate family, she highly cherished her sister in-laws Liz Ohlson, Rose Wuttunee, Debbie Zushman and brother in-laws Jerry Zushman (Heather) and Russ Zushman (Diane).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
