It is with great sadness that the family of Ed announces his passing, after a brief illness at Grace Hospital at the age of 90 years.
Ed is survived by his wife Sharon Krestanowich, his children Brent, Janice (Scott), daughter-in-law Cathe Tocher, his grandchildren Mikyla and Rory Futz, Gracie (Wyatt), Merritt Kennedy, Kobe Futz and Kieran Emerson.
He is also survived by step-children Paul (Cory) Krestanowich and children Adam, Madeline, Aaron and Colin; Lisa (Mike) Tottle and children Zachary, Samantha and Sean Tottle. He is also survived by step-children Craig (Cecile) McIntyre and children Aaron and Cameron, Brent (Gail) McIntyre and children Kevin and Trina, Kirk (Laurie) McIntyre and children Ryan and Kelly.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Mike and Nellie Futz, sister Elsie, brother Bill, baby brother Ed, son Doug, grandsons Lane and Justin Futz and step-son Jason Krestanowich.
He was also predeceased by his first wife Joyce Enberg and second wife Jean McIntyre.
Ed was born at Winnipeg Beach. He farmed in the Melnice area and worked at Teulon Hospital. He and Joyce moved to Winnipeg and he became a sales rep for a dry cleaning company, selling machines and supplies. He bought his own cleaners, Minit-Cleaners and then Fabri-Care. Due to his health he sold and retired.
When the children were small he enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a big supporter of his children’s sports and a supporter of the Community Centre.
Ed was a member of A.A. for 58 years.
Ed married Jean and they bought a trailer in Mesa, Arizona where they spent their winters. He enjoyed fixing the trailer, playing bean bag and shuffleboard. Due to health, they sold and stayed in Winnipeg.
Ed married Sharon in 2012 and again bought a trailer where they spent their winters. They travelled to California and Mexico. Due to health, again he sold and stayed in Winnipeg.
Ed became involved with his grand kids and hockey; he didn’t miss many games.
Ed was a kind, generous and loving man. He loved life, friends and family. His smile will never be forgotten and will be missed. He had a great life and lived it to the fullest.
A special thank you to the Home Care Workers who came every day to help him. He enjoyed their coming.
