'Douglas Gordon Cook
1954 - 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doug Cook, on December 17, 2022, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Louise, his two sons Chris, wife Jessica, and Jeff, and three grandchildren - Evan, Kyle and Rowan - whom he loved so dearly. Also mourning his loss are his dear sister Sandy and her husband Bob, brother-in-law Dave, Louise’s sisters Claudette and Stan, Lorraine and Don, Terry and John, Denise and Gilles, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and cherished friends.
Doug was predeceased by his parents Esther and Gordon Cook, and his dear sister Judy, who passed away this past August.
Doug spent his entire career with the City of Winnipeg. His true passion, however, was photography. Over the years, he captured amazing photos of countless events including weddings, birthdays, holidays, vacations and family gatherings. He also was masterful in taking the most spectacular nature shots, many of which are framed and displayed in Louise and Doug’s home.
More than anything, Doug loved to be with his family and friends. He was the “go-to” person for many, be it tech support, researching new products or anything else that was needed. He was a kind and gentle soul.
He and Louise had a joyful life together. They enjoyed many trips together and loved spending every fall at Clear Lake. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, near and far. They all meant the world to him and he was so proud of them.
We would like to thank Dr. Cho for his compassionate care over the years. A heartfelt thank you to the kind staff at Riverview Health Centre for making his final days as comfortable as possible.
According to Doug’s wishes, a private gathering will be held.
Flowers gratefully declined.
Doug, you will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed by so many.
