OBITUARY

Donald Kenneth Fehr

December 17, 1931 – May 2, 2024
Obituary of Donald Kenneth Fehr
IN THE CARE OF

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Lovingly Remembered

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father Donald Kenneth Fehr on May 2, 2024 at Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 92.

Dad is survived by his sons Douglas (Shelley Will), Thomas (Michelle), granddaughters Meghan and Katherine and sister June (Albert) Braun and many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his wife Patricia and son Dr. Kenneth Bruce Fehr.

Dad was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He spent most of his childhood life in Plum Coulee and Winkler before moving to Winnipeg to attend University of Manitoba where he earned his degree in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He spent his entire career as an assessor with the department of Municipal Affairs.

Dad met Mom while playing tennis on a Sunday morning. That chance encounter turned into 54 wonderful years of marriage. Summer vacations were spent at Clear Lake. Road trips took us to visit relatives on the West Coast and sightseeing trips to the U.S. In later years Mom and Dad discovered Hawaii. It became their passion and they then visited there annually until Mom’s health prevented them from travelling there anymore.

Mom and Dad purchased their first and only home in 1958 on Crowson Bay in Fort Garry. Community involvement was very important to Dad. Dad was an active member of Fort Garry United Church where he assumed the unofficial role as “gardener” and painter. The Fort Garry Community Centre was fortunate to have him as the volunteer icemaker for so many years.

Dad was a gifted carpenter using those skills to renovate his home, his son’s homes, and do carpentry for anyone else that asked. He was especially proud of the screened in patio that he added on to the back of his house. The screened in patio was ‘’the room of the house”

Dad your smile and sense of humour brought joy to your family and friends.

We will miss that smile.

At Dad’s request there will not be a formal service; cremation has taken place. A family interment will take place at a later date.
