Dave was born on June 11, 1959 in Cold Lake, Alberta. Living in a military family, Dave initially moved to Ottawa, and then eventually Winnipeg, where he lived until his passing. Dave was raised by his mom, learning to bake, after many groundings. Dave competed in varsity track and graduated from Grant Park High School.
Following graduation, Dave got his degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, a field he worked in for a number of years, including being an integral part of Taste of Manitoba events. After starting a family with his wife, Kim, Dave began working in the Winnipeg School Division as an inclusion support worker, helping elementary students struggling in the classroom. Dave also worked for True North Sports + Entertainment at a variety of events, including Winnipeg Jets games, where he loved interacting with fans.
Dave was best known for his quick wit, trivia knowledge, love of crosswords, and enjoyment of Winnipeg sports. He was resourceful and handy with house projects, often hearing “Dave’ll do it” from his family. He loved watching Bombers football games with his son, Steuart, and going on amusement park rides with his daughter, Kacie. He made many cherished memories traveling in the summers with his family to a variety of destinations, including Disney World and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Dave is predeceased by his mother, Anna; sister, Sandra; and brother-in-law Norman. He is survived by his wife, Kim; children, Steuart (Vanessa) and Kacie; family members, Lorie and Barb; and family pets, Kaos and Mayhem as well as a number of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for David will be held on February 18th, at 2:00 pm (formal program at 2:30), at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.
