He will be missed by his wife of 37 years Isabelle; his son Brian (Lyette); daughter Susan (John); stepsons David, Don, Dale (Candace) Sawchuk; his sister Jeanne (Tom); six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by parents David and Ivy, first wife May and step grandson Garth.
Dave had a 28 year career in RCAF bands as a drummer, where he spent time in most countries in Europe, and with the UN in Sardinia, Gaza and Rafa; he also played with the Count Basie Orchestra, Ted Komar Band and various bands associated with the Ice Capades, Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, Mark Kenny’s Ranch and various visiting performers; including Nat King Cole and Ann Murray.
In later years, he was also a member of the Khartum Shriners Fife and Drum Band and a Jazz Band in McAllen (10yrs). His RCAF career also included wartime service.
With his wife Isabelle, he enjoyed trips to Mexico, Cuba and many cruises, along with golfing and memorable times at the cottage on McConnell Lake and winters in McAllen Texas. He was a jokester, fun loving, and enjoyed time with family and friends.
As Dave was a lover of good Scotch, he asked that friends and relatives have a drink to his memory, and grieve not, for now I am free.
As per his wishes, there will be no memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice.
