Carol met her husband Del at the drug store next to Thomson Funeral Chapels on Broadway in 1956. Three weeks later they were engaged, one year later they were married, thirteen years later they shared their only child Michael Dale.
The Millard’s spent the next 39 summers in sunny Grand Marais, eventually building their retirement home on Lake Winnipeg together in 1992 on Grand Marais Boulevard. Carol and Del had numerous beach friends, who raised their families together at the 2nd step at Grand Beach. Neighbours regularly visited as she enjoyed working in her yard, or over the cocktail hour around the BBQ. Carol deeply loved all of the beach family.

Lady Carol and Noble Del spent many evening and weekends with their Khartum Shrine family, including the Chanter, the Divan, and Past Potentates. Their most memorable year was 1991, when Carol shared Del’s year as Potentate. Their son Michael, now follows in his Father’s footsteps, as a member of Phoenix Lodge #187 A.F & A.M. Carol dearly loved her only grandson Brandon, the light of her life, spending numerous hours playing games, puzzles, reading or listening to stories about his hockey games or motocross races.
Mom was very friendly, generous, and loved her family more than anything in the world. Mike, Kellsey and Brandon wish to thank and acknowledge Mom’s sister Auntie Joanie for the continuous care she provided to Mom, her endless compassion, and countless hours spent attending to Mom as her health declined. Carol and her sister Joan have lived together for the past 3 years in Winnipeg and Grand Marais. Mom and AJ are commonly referred to as “The Birds” by the family, or the “Tweeters” by grandson Brandon. Mom’s dog and companion Chloe, remains with Joan.
