On April 27th, 2016, Brent Rigby passed away peacefully at home at the age of 49.
Brent was predeceased by his parents, John and Ruby Rigby. He is survived by his loving sister, Amelia, brother-in-law Rick Kuczek and cherished nephew Ryland as well as numerous cousins. He will be sadly missed by his friends – Jeff, Ian, Pierre, Rick, Sherri, Pat, MJ, Paul and others.
Brent lived life by his rules – ‘carpe diem’ – a happy-go-lucky guy with a carefree attitude. Over the past few years Brent’s physical and mental health deteriorated until he could no longer seize the day. He had many interests and hobbies, such as computers and even collecting bicycle parts to construct and assemble complete bicycles. Brent had a knack for taking broken items apart and rebuilding to working order. He enjoyed looking after Tassie the dog and spending time tinkering with Brenda’s 2004 Honda Civic.
Brent’s house on Monaco Bay was always an open meeting ground for all of his friends to get together. Brent recently enjoyed going out to a concert with Jeff, Friday night “Rock Band” parties, and many lunches at Southdale Pizza Hut and Komodo Chinese Restaurant where he chatted with his favourite servers.
Special thank you to Dr. Werner Van Jaarsveldt and Dr. Alla Kirshner for their many years of care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Brent’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brent’s memory may be made to one’s charity of choice.
He bade no one a last farewell,
He said good-bye to none;
The heavenly gates were opened wide,
A loving voice said, “Come”
