Bo passed away peacefully on June 12, 2021 in Calgary, AB with his family at his side.
Bo will be missed by his daughter Sheri (Pete) and son Charles, grandchildren Linden, Shelby and Leah (Sheri) and Derek, Nicole and Delaney (Charles), brother Oleh (Rose), and his sister Lesia.
Bo was predeceased by his wife Beverly 6 years ago and parents Mary and Ivan many years before.
Bo was born in Cory, SK. Later the family moved to Winnipeg where he grew up in the north end. The family owned a store and the kids worked hard to help as their father’s health had deteriorated. Bo put himself through school and earned a Bachelor of Math/Science degree with an honours in Physics, later challenging the Engineering Syllabus to become a Professional Engineer.
Bo married Bev and they had two children, Charles and Sheri. The family resided in Westwood until later retiring to La Salle, MB.
Bo’s career was long and full of accomplishments. Starting as a draftsman and ending as President of Wardrop Engineering which he held until his retirement. Bo’s favourite and most proud accomplishment was the Charleswood /Assiniboine River Bridge; where he implemented new processes that ultimately proved more cost effective and have been replicated on recent bridge developments. Bo developed an interest in building envelopes and was the chairman of the Manitoba Building Envelope Council. Bo was a well-liked and respected member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Manitoba. After Bo retired from Wardrop Engineering he couldn’t sit still so he took on the redevelopment of the Winnipeg Airport Authority.
Bev and Bo enjoyed their retirement to its fullest, travelling extensively, and ocean cruising the globe. Bev and Bo were greatly fond of good food, wine and their favourite membership was the Manitoba Club. After Bev’s passing, Bo went on two very fondly cherished cruises with his daughter where his charm, wit and ability to tell the best jokes and stories were loved by all.
Bo recently moved to Calgary to be near his daughter and family support where he was well appreciated and cared for until his passing.
A private outdoor service will be held in Winnipeg at Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery on June 30, 2021 where Bo will join Bev to their final destination.
The world has lost a legend. Cheers Bo!
