January 1st, 1944 – September 6th, 2017
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arlene Hayden on September 6th, 2017.
Arlene will be remembered as a strong, kind woman who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She enjoyed her volunteer work with Girl Guides of Canada, Museum of Man and Nature and Anishinabe Place of Hope and her church work. Arlene was also a master bridge player and loved playing with her friends.
Most of all, she loved being with her family. Her sister Donna predeceased Arlene. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 52 years; Trevor; her daughters Shannon Gaulke and Tammy Zagari (Dominic); her five grandchildren; Taylor, Taryn, Zachary, Caity and Sam; her sister Barb (Denis); nephew Jason (Aimee); niece Ashley (Matt) and several relatives as well as many lifelong friends. Arlene was the “glue” that held our family together.
She enjoyed life and embraced it fully. Arlene’s spirit and soul prevailed, but ultimately cancer took her away from us. We would like to thank the Gynecologic Oncology CancerCare Team, the Nurses and Health Care Aides on the 5th floor of the Women’s Pavilion and Sunshine Limo. A Celebration of Arlene’s Life is planned at Green Acres Funeral Home with Deacon Kris Taylor of Faith Lutheran Church presiding at 10:00 am on Friday, September 22nd, 2017, with reception to follow. Arlene has requested that people attending the celebration wear colour instead of black. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honour of Arlene to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
Arlene was our angel and has now gone to Heaven. Lord, please take care of her until we meet again. Hallelujah, you’re home.
Arrangements under the direction of Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
