With heavy hearts, we announce that after a lengthy illness, Antonietta Mancinelli passed away into the arms of God on August 24, 2023 at 11:00pm.
Toni leaves to mourn; her daughter Cinzia (Ron), son Jim (Marie), grandchildren Corey, Nicole (Matt), Lucas and great-grandson Theodore.
She also leaves behind; her sister Ida Ruffilli of Italy, brother Loreto (Angela) of Winnipeg, sisters-in-law Fulvia Cuffini and Angelina Mancini of Italy, brother-in-law Domencio Sacco (Rachael), sisters-in-law Filomena and Tommasina Mancini, all of Winnipeg, special friend Joe Solomon, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, Italy and Brazil.
Toni was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Elio Mancinelli; her parents Vincenzo and Assunta Mancini, parents-in-law Luigi and Lucia Mancinelli of Italy, brothers Urbano and Benito Mancini, sister Maria Sacco of Winnipeg, brother Vittorio Mancini, and brother-in-law Sebastiano Ruffilli of Italy.
Toni was born in Villalago L’Aquila Italy on April 10, 1936 and was raised there. In her early twenties, while at a festival at with a friend (who later became her sister-in-law), Toni met, fell in love and eventually was engaged to the love of her life, Elio. On March 19, 1960 she married Elio by proxy and later joined him in Sao Paulo, Brazil to start their lives together. On December 1, 1961 they welcomed their daughter Cinzia. Both seeking a better life, they left the tropical weather of Brazil and immigrated to the frigid weather of Canada, arriving on Christmas Eve 1961, making Winnipeg their new home.
Toni was a stay at home mom/homemaker, and in the early years helped by caretaking various rooming houses they lived in; later finding their forever home on Garwood Ave. On May 25, 1966 they welcomed the birth of their son Jim. Toni’s loves were cooking, looking after her family and home, getting together with family and friends and her grandchildren that she loved to spoil. Her passion was her garden. In the fall, she would spend days canning and freezing the fruits of her garden. In the summer months, you would find her with Elio, relaxing under their grapevines, sipping on a glass of wine. Before Elio’s retirement, they enjoyed many years with family and friends at their Cabana at the Oasis; after retirement, they travelled to Mazatlan every winter for about 16 years and returned to Brazil and Italy numerous times.
With all her illnesses, Toni’s last few years were spent at the Kildonan Personal Care Home. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff for their understanding, patience and exemplary care.
A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave. Condolences will be accepted at 10:00 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will follow at Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St.
Pallbearers will be Vincent Mancini, Tony Sacco, Roberto Mancini, Michael Mancini, Corey Sewards and Lucas Mancinelli.
