With profound sadness we announce the passing of Grace Yuet Ying Hung Ng, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all whose lives she touched on December 31, 2022.
She left us while sleeping peacefully at The Hospice of Windsor Essex County, Windsor campus. She was in her 92nd year.
Born in Panyu, China in 1930, she left for Hong Kong to start a new life in 1947. She met and married Raymond Hon Keung Ng (predeceased) and had three children. They immigrated to Canada in 1972, seeking a better life for their children and settling in Windsor, Ontario.
She was the beloved mother of William Wai Lam and wife, Betty Pui Dai of Windsor; Lai Man Vivian and partner, Roger of Windsor; and Lai Shan Alice and husband, Christian of Richmond, British Columbia. Proud grandmother of Evelyn Kai Hua and her husband Martin (Australia), Julian Pak Lin (Toronto), Yiu Cho and his wife, Tia (Hong Kong); Tsun Bon (Toronto), Selena Mun-Yi and Sabrina Mun-Ga (Richmond). And prouder great grandmother of Caius Chin Wan(Hong Kong) and Madeleine Hua Ying (Australia). She is survived by three sisters and three brothers (Toronto, Windsor, Panyu).
Grace lived a full life as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a business owner, opening and operating her own restaurant in 1974 until 1997. But she wasn’t ready for retirement yet. She opened another restaurant shortly afterwards for another three years. Once retired, Grace and her husband, Raymond travelled to visit friends and family across Canada and overseas. Grace loved to play mah-jong and sing Chinese opera as well as try her luck at casinos.
Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 895 Ouellette Avenue, Windsor on Wednesday, January 4th from 3 – 5 pm and 7 – 9 pm. A brief tribute service will be held in the Anderson Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 5th at 11 am.
The family would like to thank all our friends, family and the medical community including Paramed and The Hospice of Windsor Essex County, Windsor Campus in her final days. Donations to The Hospice of Windsor Essex County would be appreciated by the family.
