Robert William (Bill) McConnell

Passed peacefully on Saturday May 12, 2018 at the age of 85 (Born November 18, 1932 in Toronto) with family by his side. Son of the late Robert Ross McConnell and Lottie Mary (nee Scammell). Loving husband of the late Carol McConnell (nee Collins) for 63 years. Devoted father of Michael, Robert (Karen), James and Penni-Lynn Lemieux-Pinsonneault (Dale). Fun and caring “Bumpa” to Chantal (Joey), Carol-Lynn (Chase), Justin (Carley), Curtis (Paige) and Meghan. Brother to the late Ross McConnell and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill was retired from Premier Concrete where he was manager for 25 years. We would like to give thanks to the Doctors and staff at WRH Ouellette Campus 7 west for the great care given to our ailing father. A very special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Aoun and the wonderful nurses and staff at Hotel Dieu Grace, Transition to Betterness Palliative Unit. Their wonderful and professional care of our father allowed him to pass with dignity and peace. You also went above and beyond to give care and support to our family when we needed it most. A thank you to the staff of Devonshire Retirement Home, Riverside House for making my parents feel like they were at home and loved. You also gave our family peace of mind knowing they were being well taken care of when we couldn’t be there. As per Bill's request, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at the Church of the Ascension, 1385 University Ave. West on Saturday June 23, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. till the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association - 2679 Howard Ave, Windsor, ON N8X 3X2.
