It is with heavy hearts and mixed emotions that we announce that Patrick James Callaghan went to be with his Lord and Saviour and entered into the continuation of Eternal Life on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 at the age of 63.
He is predeceased by parents Jim & Doreen Callaghan. He is survived by his only child Amanda (Ryan), to whom he was a loving Father and always took the time to make sure she knew she was profoundly loved by him. Even though Pat had only one child, there were three boys that were always in his heart and on his mind --- David, Robert and the late Matthew. He will be missed by his long-time friend Karen; he is now reunited with his beloved Cindy. He will be missed by his close friends that were more than just friends, but really more like family to him. These fine folks took an only child, something Pat struggled with, and gave him many brothers and sisters to call upon 24/7 throughout the years!
Pat was born and raised in Windsor and he lived there until he was called home. He was a jack-of-all-trades, having many different jobs over the years. He was good with working with his hands and enjoyed making plaques and wood block engravings. He always had new tricks to make things work and he always had an endless roll of duct tape on hand just in case. He loved playing billiards, card games and chess. He enjoyed bowling and taking a photo or two whenever he got the chance. He loved anything and everything chocolate. He sure did have a sweet tooth. He took great pleasure in creating his one-of-a-kind Pat-style poems and then sending them along in a timely card to the people he loved. He loved to laugh and make people smile! He had a love for dogs and loved each one he had dearly, especially his Sheba girl!
Pat had great faith in Jesus and took comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body would be to be present with the Lord. In times of joy and in times of sorrow, he found comfort in Scripture!
He knew how to laugh, he knew how to care and he knew how to love. He will be remembered for his wild adventures, sense of humour, straight talk, his love of music, dance moves, his love of people and not to mention his forgetfulness, that he, too, oftentimes found humourous.
Pat leaves behind many great memories that will be cherished for years to come in the many hearts that loved him dearly.
Oftentimes Pat didn’t say "goodbye"; he said “Bye for now” or simply just "later!" So, Dad, in your words, this is just “Bye for now.” I know we shall meet again later, some glad morning.
