Deputy Garner put himself through the police academy in 1998. Throughout his career, he devoted himself to service through the Jefferson Police Department, Norcross Police Department, Duluth Police Department, Braselton Police Department, Pendergrass Police Department, Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, and finally the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office where he served until his end of watch.
Some of the foundest memories of Deputy Garner were spent listening to George Michael’s music with the top down on his Trans Am with his wife by his side and at least one dog joining in the backseat.
Deputy Garner is preceded in death by his loving four legged children, Hercules and Jersey.
Deputy Garner is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Garner of Bethlehem; parents, Donald Garner and Vivian Garner both of Atlanta; brother, David Garner of Gridley, California; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Maureen Olsen; sister-in-law, Kathleen (David) Evans of Loganville; two nieces, Amelia Jeanne and Isabelle James both of Loganville; and three special four legged children, Reagan, Cooper, and Sherman the German. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in blue along with a host of extended family and friends.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday evening, July 24, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE Winder, Georgia 30680.
The service to celebrate and honor the life of Deputy Bill Garner will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Bethlehem Church-316 Campus, 548 Christmas Ave., Hwy 11 North, Bethlehem, GA 30620.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Deputy Bill Garner to the C.P.R (Canine Pet Rescue) of Dacula.
