Tamara "Tami" Denise McKay

Tamara “Tami” Denise McKay, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in Acworth, GA. She was born on September 30, 1964 in Athens, GA to Marcia Wiley Smith and Benjamin Dunn Smith. Tami graduated from Forsyth County High School and received an Associate Degree in Dental Assisting from Gwinnett Technical College. She spent her career as a dental assistant in various dental offices. She dedicated the majority of her life working with Frye Elementary: in the cafeteria, after school program, and volunteering. She also loved volunteering at thrift shops. Tami was a great cook, loved crafting, decorating, and working in the yard.

Tami is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Donnie McKay of Acworth, GA; son Dr. Dylan McKay of New Haven, CT; daughter Emily (Joey) Fitzpatrick of Greenville, SC; parents, Bennie and Marcia Smith of Winder, GA; sisters: Christi (Ray) Callihan of Mansfield, TX and Amy Smith of Winder, GA, several nieces and nephews; and her mother-in-law, Pat McKay.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Funeral Services will follow in Smith Memory Chapel with Reverend John Burchfield officiating. Burial will take place shortly after the funeral at Smith Cemetery.
