Steve Harper, Jr.

Steve Harper Jr., age 74, of Winder, GA passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023. Steve was born May 2, 1949 to parents Andrew Stephens Harper, Sr. and Doris Ivy (Waite) Harper in Covington, GA. He attended Avondale High School in Decatur, GA. After high school Steve began what would end up being a 56-year career in plumbing. While in Decatur, Steve met Denise S. Stevens. The pair would marry and raise three children together. Steve was a member of Midway Christian Church in Winder for over 10 years. Steve was a loving and kind hearted family man. He was dedicated and generous to his family and friends, loving to joke and “pick” at them. His hobbies included making jewelry, collecting United States coins, collecting firearms and fishing. In his earlier years he had a passion for dancing and playing the guitar and most notably, he loved sharing that passion with those around him.

Steve is preceded in passing by his parents, Andrew Stephens Harper, Sr. and Doris Ivy (Waite) Harper. Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Denise S. Harper; children: Rusty (Holli Leigh) Stevens, Elizabeth Ann (Keith) Austin, and Michael Wayne (Ann) Vincoli; grandchildren: Autumn Hoefle, Lillie Hoefle, Brooke Stevens, Desiree (Nelson) Martinez, and Bethany Austin; great grandchildren: Weston Mitchell and Luca Martinez; brothers: Don Harper and Tracey Harper; and sisters: Linda Bell and Susan Kerr.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, Georgia, followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1:00 PM.
