I will never forget Doctor Orr I find myself talking to him all the time ,  I miss him very much there will never be another man or Doctor like him.  We all miss you RIP   I know you are looking down at some of these Doctors and saying a few words.  

DR. Orr was indeed one in a million...An old school doctor that truly cared about his patients, which is RARE these days. I was blessed to find him in 2013.  We had some wonderful conversations about every subject from ancient history to current events., But that never interfered with his examinations with me.  He took the time to actually listen, and took more time with diagnoses, and dedicated instruction.  He was down to Earth, and you felt comfortable with him.  There will never be another doctor like him.  I feel the loss of a caring friend and professional. Rest in Peace, my friend...

I am so saddened by this. I was his roomate during medical school. An unlikely pair as I am from NYC and he from Winder yet we were close. And while we hadn’t kept in touch over the years I have such fond memories. We just called him “Orr “ and he was loved by everyone . He had such a kind heart, was extremely smart, yet was so grounded. I recall his love of music and people. We had our share of the usual medical school antics but behind it all his desire to become a doctor came from a deep desire to help others in need. The medical profession and all of us lost a very special person. I’m sorry to have never met the family but you have my deepest condolences.

I moved to Winder in 2013. Dr. Orr was my doctor. I love the small town atmosphere and he made it even better. Sometimes I'd run into him at Quality Foods. He'd be in his overalls. He kept it real with his patients and told you like it was. He will be greatly missed. There will never be another Dr. Orr. Best doctor ever, hands down!

I just found out today about his passing and am heart broken and blessed at the same time.  I started seeing Dr. Orr in 2009 after my heart attack. He was compassionate but strong handed. He told it like it was and I needed that at that time. He told me that I was way to young to be in the condition I was in and conspired with my daughter to make me behave.
I will miss him greatly.

Dr. Orr was one in a million.  Listened, laughed, and truly cared. So down to earth. Don’t think I will ever find a doctor whom will gain my trust again. With love and many prayers to his family. He will missed by many

My name is Kathryn S Parham and I have been a patient of  
Dr. Stephen Orr's  for over 19 yrs.  Not only was he a wonderful 
physician  that managed my care all of these yrs  but he was responsible for my still being alive to this day as the hospital ran a MRI and  Cat Scan & found nothing wrong when I had excruciating headaches for 3 days all the while I still continued to work, I finally on 3rd day called Dr.. Orr  told him something is truly wrong I know this is no ordinary headache could you help me, the test show no results of anything. Dr. Orr quickly said I just read about a test called MRA and I will send you today to Dr. Cole a  Neuro  Doctor in Athens and he can run the test and talk to you. They did find a brain aneurysm but Dr. Cole said nobody in Athens would operate on me but don't worry I have called a GREAT NEURO AT EMORY IN ATLANTA  - Dr. Michael Cawley and he will take care of you. Dr. Cole even prayed with me the day he read the results to me. Dr. Cawley at Emory operated on me twice for a brain aneurysm once in June a coiling procedure did not work then a Crainotomy Brain Surgery in Oct 2004. I am here on this earth still alive because of Dr. Orr's knowledge along with 2 Neuro Surgeons and God / Dr. Cawley performing Crainotomy in Oct 2004. Since then these past almost -13 yrs and 3 months, Dr. Orr has kept me in a stable position as I have 4 more aneurysms but elect no surgery due to declining health. 
I want to thank you Dr. Orr on behalf of myself and William Bratcher for taking good care us both along with you being the vital most important  part besides God that cared enough to know to run another test - MRA and contact Dr. Cole - Neuro.  I have over the yrs thanked you for helping save my life in  2004 but I don't think you realized how much you meant to William and me as our personal physician all of these yrs. Us knowing  you truly cared and we trusted you as our personal physician.  
May you RIP now. You will always be in our ♥️...

I was very sad to learn of the passing of Dr. Stephen Orr. He was an exceptionally gifted physician , always compassionate and ever caring. I was in his care for 15 years, those years were made richer due to his help. Any issue big or small he had the time to help and find the answers. Over the years he became more than my doctor he was also my friend. I feel blessed to have known such a wonderful person, saddened to have lost him way too soon. I would like to offer my condolences to the family for their loss. My prayers are with you.

I am shocked and heartbroken to hear this news. Steve and I were Interns together at the old Doctors Hospital in Tucker. I lost my wife 5 years ago and fully understand the void created. Thoughts to all family and friends. 
Steve was genuine and those kinda people only come through once in a while.

My husband and I  were devastated to learn of the passing of our long-time family physician, Dr. Stephen Orr.  Steve’s family and mine go back a couple of generations to when our grandparents were neighbors and our dads were great friends growing up.  
Steve, as a D.O.  and pharmacist, was extremely knowledgeable, gave of his time generously to his patients, listened genuinely to their concerns and preferences, and practiced medicine with humility and a more wholistic approach than many.  Just his warm welcome and undivided attention made us feel better before we even got to the diagnosis and treatment part of our visits.  
This good man will be sorely missed by many in this community, and most certainly by us. We lift prayers for his family, colleagues and all who grieve his loss.  His shoes will not easily be filled.

There was always a wait at Dr. Orr's office, why? Because, Stephen Orr was a pull up a chair and talk doctor. A thing future generations will never know but I and my family had the opportunity to experience. Treating my family for over 10 plus year when Dr. Orr came into your room you felt as if a friend just sat down. Hi Alan, how you doing, how's your wife Barbara, usually started most conversations. In March last year, I went through major trauma,  I accidentally shot myself in the left hand while cleaning my wife's gun. after two surgeries I went to see Dr. Orr, he drags up a chair and sat beside me. I was in major pain, depressed and angry at myself for letting this happen. He looked at me and said, "what does the other guy look like"? He filled me with encouragement shared stories of past accidents he had seen, he repaired my soul. Oh, what a doctor he was, there are just none out there like Dr. Orr. And yes, many tears trickled down my face when I heard of his leaving this earth to be with God, every one for that doctor I had the privilege of knowing. He has done so, so much for me during my recovery period to lift me up, keep me going and encourage me to hang in there, things are going to get better. He really cared about his patients, they were not just numbers to him they were people, individuals, human beings he could help.he treated each one as if they were his only concern you really felt that way when you left his office. So, when your time comes and you start walking those streets of gold just look for the office that is full and people seem happy when they are leaving, I am sure the sign will say Dr. Stephen Orr, M.D.. God , please bless his family , paitents and friends as we morn the loss of a good person, a great doctor and a friend, Stephen Orr.

Steve was my  physician for a number of years and a  good and faithful friend .
He was an excellent physician and was always willing to carefully evaluate and treat me, my family, and friends who I referred to him.
A truly wonderful man whom I will greatly miss.

I am saddened by the passing of Dr. Orr. He was our family doctor for more years than I can remember. I could write pages of times when he went above and beyond when we needed him the most. I will forever be grateful for his kindness and his caring. He was the kind of doctor everyone wishes they had. I pray that his family finds peace  and comfort during this difficult time. Please know he will always be remembered fondly by our family as an exceptional man. We were privileged to have known him. May he rest in peace. God bless you all.

We will always remember his warm caring smile . This man done more to help us then and DR we every knew  ! When I had to call 911 to my husband was having a seizure , at hospital was told he had a brain aneurysm gave us some # of Dr to call and was sending us home ! I was panic , I knew I had to call the the one Dr I trusted the most !  OUR Dr .Orr , he got on the phone and talk to me , told me he call me right back . At that time I hear them call his name on intercom for ER to take his call , he then call me back , he clam me down said bring him here to the office , lol I said Dr. Orr he don't have nothing but underwear on , he said he keeping grown on and  come to back door and we bring him in that way . He checked him over made few call had him a appointment the next day in Athens . That the kind of man he was , he cared and we  loved him for that always . He took time to listen to each patient  and shoot a little bull too lol.. I'm being selfish I know because I know we will NEVER find a man like him . Saw him out of office he was the same way as in office . 
I'm so sorry for the family lost because he will be missed so much . But what a wonderful Legacy  he left behind .

Dr. Orr was a doctor's doctor.   Because I (Kerry) was a kidney transplant patient we always compared notes as to our renal function.  We love Dr. Orr, Debbie,  Nancy, Ed and all of his staff. Dr. Steve was an incredible guy. He was such a comfort to me and my husband, Roger as he treated him over the past 20plus years. We appreciated his wisdom and genuine care and concern. Also loved his sense of humor. Roger and Steve became good friends and after they spent a few hours fishing together, Roger would come home smiling (with or without fish) and tell me how much he loved Steve. They'd talk about everything from each other's health issues to the world's latest problems but, have a few laughs too. God bless Bonnie and the kids as they deal with their loss and I'll keep ya'll in my prayers.

I have only known Doctor Orr since 2005 when I moved here from New Hampshire and he was special from my first appointment.  I am truely upset he was the only man and doctor I’ve meet with so much heart .. He always said I treat my patients as if they were my wife.. he will be so very missed by so many people. He can never be replaced.   I am so sorry for all of his family for there loss ..just remember how much he was loved..

Dr. Orr was definitely a memorable doctor to me and my family.  If it wasn't for him 11 years ago this November I may not be here. He saved my life after having 3 strokes in my sleep.  He was able to get me an appointment immediately with Athens Neurology and we were then faced with the night to live or maybe three days. God Bless him for putting me first that day as a priority he always listened attentively every time you were there not just a patient number to him everyone was a priority to him.  The last time I got to talk with him and see him, he was Christmas shopping with his wife at Bath n Body works where I was currently working he was surprised to see me and I told his wife what a blessing her husband was to me and my family and how thankful we were and blessed that he was our doctor.  He will be deeply missed, prayers for his wife, children, and family.  Never can be replaced.

It was my extreme pleasure to work with Dr. Orr in his early days in Athens.  He was not only a wonderful physician,  a kind and gentle man, but a very wise one, as well.  He was one of the last true physicians, who put his patients before anything else.  His laughter was infectious, his easy manner was enviable, and his knowledge was overwhelming.  He restored my faith in the medical profession many times, with his "common sense" approach.  He will be missed as a true physician, a wonderful human being, and a gentle spirit.  I cannot think of a more appropriate time, than Easter,  for God to call this angel back home.  The world is a little dimmer because his light has been called home.  God only lets us borrow these good souls for a brief while, and then he wants them back home.   Heaven is a brighter and warmer place for him being there, and we are all brighter for having known him.  He will truly be missed.



I am heartbroken... Dr. Stephen Orr was a beautiful soul. He made you feel like you were his only concern. He literally changed my life. I will miss him as my doctor and my friend. I'm praying for his family thru this trying time, God be with you all.

My heart is broken ... Dr. Orr literally saved my life over 20 years ago.   He was one of that last "true" Doctors.  Always had time to talk to you and not make you feel like just a number.  He was my friend.  He was my son's first Doctor.  He will be missed.  The world is a much, much dimmer place without this wonderful man.

A wonderful doctor and man I have known for 25 years.  He has been the primary care giver for most of my family for all this time.
