Sara Wheeler Carey

Mrs. Carey was a native of Barrow County. She was a member of Heritage Fellowship Church and will be best remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, and nana. Her greatest pride was family and she loved spending time with each of them.

Mrs. Carey is preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Machelle Carey and parents; Leamon and Annie Lou Walls Wheeler.

Mrs. Carey is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Mr. Russell Carey of Winder; sons, Eddie Carey of Winder and Jason (Kristi) Carey of Winder; daughter, Lynn (Barry) Thomas of Winder; brothers, Eulan (Lou Ellen) Wheeler of Auburn and Jimmy (Dorothy) Wheeler of Winder; sisters, Betty Mack of Winder and Anne McDaniel of Rayle; and two grandchildren, Brandon Trey Thomas and Kord Reed Carey.

The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Sara Carey will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, July 4, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.
