Ruby Baker Cartee

Ruby B. Cartee, age 90, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 12, 2014. This Southern Lady was known for her commitment to her family and friends. She was born June 18, 1924 in Clarke County, GA. She was the daughter of the late Foster and Myrtice Baker of Oconee County and was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Martin and Johnnie Shedd as well as a brother, James Baker. She and her late husband, George Cartee, were married 63 years and attended the Church of Christ in Bogart, GA. They had one child, Charles Larry Cartee of Lawrenceville, GA and she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, June, for the past 7 years. Celebrating her life will also be four grandchildren, Chuck Cartee, Kristen Culberson, Chad Robertson and Jennifer Simcox; six great-grandchildren, Avery, Sam, Evan, Brantley, Cayley and Coleman. Visitation will be Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 4-6pm at Smith Funeral Home in Winder. A funeral service honoring the life of Ruby will be held Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Smith Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Arbor Respite at Lawrenceville United Methodist Church where she spent many days singing, laughing, making crafts and being loved.
