Robert (Bob) Lassiter Ivey, 87, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2021. A resident of Gainesville, GA for five years, Bob was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville and resided at The Gardens of Gainesville.
Born on July 6, 1934, in Halifax, NC, Mr. Ivey was the son of Richard and Elma Ivey. He served in the United States Air Force and while on active duty met and married his wife of 49 years, Mildred Bailey Ivey. Some of his assignments included Iceland, the Philippines, Taiwan, Washington D.C., and Myrtle Beach. Retiring from service after 21 years, he and Mildred made their home in Montgomery, AL where they were active members of First Baptist Church. They enjoyed taking trips with the senior adults and served together in various ministries of the church, including Sunday School and senior adult ministries. Bob was most proud of serving on the lighting committee of the FBC Living Christmas Tree and for making several oversees mission trips. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was affectionately known as Daddy Bob to his family and many friends.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary Bassler Ivey, his parents, his brother, Richard Ivey, and his second wife, Mildred Ivey, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Robert (Tammy) Ivey of Hoschton, GA and W. Michael Bailey (Cheryl) of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren: Megan Arnold (Spencer), Hannah Bush (Kipper), Micah Bailey, and Amanda Leach (Matt); and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley Deaver, Ophelia Taylor (Donald), Patti Phelps (Lou), Kathy McCanless (Walt), his brothers, Milton Ivey (Joan), Jerry Ivey (Ann), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for the family will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 6, at Williamson Cemetery in Northport, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of NGMC, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501.
