Robert "Bobby" Lee Coker, Sr., 84, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Coker was born June 11, 1939 in Conasauga, TN to the late Warren Harvey Coker & Jessie Lee Hillard Coker. He was self-employed as a commercial subcontractor with United Acoustical and Drywall in Stone Mountain and was a member of Insulator & Allied Workers Local Union No. 48. Mr. Coker served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1956 until 1960. He loved all things sports and was an avid golfer. He always loved spending time with his fur babies. Mr. Coker was very active in the Northeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross earning several awards to include, Volunteer of the Year, a leadership award and travelling to many disaster areas to help those affected. He was a member of Watkinsville First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Blalock.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Coker of Monroe; children: Robert L. Coker, Jr. & Kathy of Bogart, Teresa Singleton & Tom of Covington, Jerri Hegwood & Barry of Milton; step-daughter, Leslie Riales; grandchildren: Haley Yeagley & Tim, Morgan Coker, Cole Coker, Lilly Hegwood, Ellie Hegwood and Cale Hedrick; sister, Nancy Woodall & Smitty of Snellville; brother-in-law, Donald Blalock; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 22 in Smith Memory Chapel in Winder with Rev. Andrew Doan officiating. The family will receive friends from 10am until 12pm at Smith Funeral Home. The service will be held at 12pm at the funeral home followed by an interment at Barrow Memorial Gardens. In addition to flowers, the family is encouraging donations be made to the American Red Cross of Northeast Georgia.
