Richard Bryant Perkins, age 73, of Bethlehem, GA, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He was a 1956 graduate of Statham High School. Bryant served in the United States Navy for 20 years and retired from Gwinnett County as Transportation Project Manager. He was also Commander for the Statham American Legion Post 163. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Richard and Susie Bell Brewer Perkins. Survivors include his wife, Linda Bratcher of Bethlehem; three sons, Richard Bryant Perkins, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Kenneth Ray Perkins of Braselton, GA, and John William Perkins of Winder, GA; two step-sons, Eric Lynn of Hurricane, WV and Elton Lynn of Winder; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Perkins of Olive Branch, MS and Amanda Ruth Peppers of Bethlehem; a sister, Nancy Adamson of Winder; and ten grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 5-9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Reverend John Burchfield officiating. The burial will follow the service at Chapel Christian Church Cemetery, Winder. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Veterans’ Memorial Park, Statham, GA. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
