Michael Roy Jackson

Michael Roy Jackson, beloved son, brother, and uncle, age 73, of Athens, GA went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 5, 2023. The son of the late Royce A. Jackson and Jean N. Jackson, Mike graduated from Winder-Barrow High School. After graduating from Gainesville Junior College, he worked in operations at Jackson Ready Mixed Concrete Company, Athens. Mike then worked at Executive Office Park, Athens, until his retirement. Upon retirement Mike enjoyed golf, bowling, tennis, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.

Mike is survived by his brother, Royce Steven Jackson of Lakemont, GA; sister, Jane Jackson (Robert) Donald of Athens, GA; three nieces and one nephew.

Mike was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and the Athens JCs to their Exhauster Roster. In June 1997, he joined Athens Heritage Lions Club and received the twenty-year service award in June 2017. During those years, Mike also worked actively with Lions Club International Foundation. In December 2019, the "Melvin Jones Fellow" was presented to Mike for his dedicated humanitarian services.

A visitation for family and friends will be at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, on Wednesday, November 8 from 10:00 am until 10:45 am. After the visitation there will be a Graveside Funeral Service and Interment at 11:00 am in Rose Hill Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home, Winder, has charge of arrangements.
