Martha Cronic “Monk” Wheeler, 85 of Lithia Springs, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Tranquility Hospice. She was a native of Hoschton, and a graduate of Morgan County High School. Monk was a secretary for Sears Incorporated and retired after 35 years of service. She was a Christian and lived her life helping and praying for others.
Monk deeply loved her family and was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. She loved The Atlanta Braves and was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan! She loved to sit on her porch and bird watch, she especially loved cardinals. Monk was resilient, kind, positive, always appreciative and grateful, she had a beautiful smile. She was known at family gatherings for her mac and cheese and freshly squeezed lemonade. She loved southern gospel music, Hallmark movies, ice cream and roasted peanuts (especially while watching a ball game). She loved everyone UNCONDITIONALLY. She had a gift of remembering everyone’s birthday and was a wiz with remembering dates and family history. She always sent cards, attended birthday parties, recitals, and ball games. She played Bunco for a number of years and was very active in her church. In her sickest days, she would always be thinking of others and assuring everyone that she was “fine and dandy”. She never met a stranger and was a friend to all. She will be greatly missed.
The family would to thank Ga. Hospice and Wellstar Hospice for their wonderful care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper Washington Cronic and Ruby Irene Boggs Cronic; Her loving husband of 25 years, James Henry “Jim” Wheeler; a brother, Donald “Curly” Cronic; sister, Dorothy Sears and a nephew, Don Cronic.
