Lucy Turner Hammond

Lucy Turner Hammond, age 84, of Winder, GA passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Lucy was born in Jefferson, GA on February 2, 1938. She was a 1956 graduate of Winder Barrow High School and was a member of Galilee Christian Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and she and her husband work together for many years at the Christian Service Camp. In her younger years, she enjoyed cooking for her family. She liked visiting the mountains. She loved spending time with family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lucy was predeceased by her parents, Homer W. and Ina Marlowe Turner. She was also predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Dean Hammond; her daughter, Kim Hammond Smith; her brother, Homer Turner, Jr.,; and her sisters: Willie Mae Martin, Estell Hayes, and Betty Smith. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Wesley) Skinner of Winder; grandchildren: Shane Huff (Kari), John Skinner (Kristy), Russell Skinner (Erin), and Brett Skinner (Kendra); and great-grandchildren: Lexey, Weston, Bristol, Wren, McKenzie, Hampton, Ellery, Harlyn, Kylee, Ada Brett, and Kamri.

A visitation for family and friends will be at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, November 25 between 11:00 am and service time. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, November 25 at 2:00 pm at Galilee Christian Church Cemetery.
