Meier Neu and Clarence Delbert Neu. He passed away on Sunday, August 13,
2023, at the age of 86.
Jim was born in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Wilbur Wright High
School before attending DePauw University, where he was a member of
Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He honorably served his country through the
United States Air Force Reserves.
He met his wife, Patricia Wymer (Pat) in Dayton and the two were married
on September 20th, 1958. They were just one month shy of celebrating their
65th wedding anniversary.
Jim was an excellent salesman. A skill which first erupted at the Ohio Bell
Telephone Company, where he was presented with the Distinguished Sales
Award. The majority of his career was spent working for Angelica uniform
Company, which transferred him and his family to Atlanta. It was there that
Jim and Pat raised their girls, Tammy and Molly. After 27 years with
Angelica, Jim semi-retired to Winder, GA, where he and Pat bought a
chicken farm to fulfill his lifelong dream for land and a fishing pond. In 2001
Jim decided to take his final job with his son-in-law at Lindsay Document
Destruction, from which he retired in 2021.
A good and faithful servant, Jim was a member of Winder First United
Methodist church where he led the W.Y. Smith Sunday school class and his
Friday morning men’s group. He also served on the ushers and staff-parish relations committees at this church.
Those who knew Jim know how much he valued gathering friends and family
for a good time. Whether it was through a neighborhood pig-roast, card
game or a trip to Fripp, you sensed his love for community. Depending on
who you ask, you’ll likely hear stories of bonding over a game of golf, a good
hunting or fishing trip or a fantastic meal. None of these events survived one
of his practical jokes. Jim was known for his sense of humor and making you
laugh.
In addition to his wife Pat, Jim is survived by his daughters: Tammy Neu
Lindsay (Duke) and Molly Kae Neu, his grandchildren: Kaetlin “Kaeti”
Lindsay Shurling (Nick) and Davis “Lake” Lindsay (Edie) and greatgrandchildren, Wynnie and Frank. Jim is also survived by his brother, Terry
David Neu (Donna), Nephew Todd (Amy), and Niece Tiffany.
A memorial service will be held at Winder First United Methodist Church on
Thursday, August 17th at 2:00 p.m. Associate Minister Alice Lipscomb will
officiate the service. The family will receive friends and family following the
service at the Fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Extra Special People, Inc., 189 VFW Drive, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
