Jerry Harper McCuen, age 74, passed away on October 27, 2014. After a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, he suffered a massive heart attack. For the past two and a half years Jerry was cared for by a private nurse and hospice. As he passed he was at home surrounded by his loving family, wife Saundra, their daughter Sue & husband Mike, his four Troino grandchildren, niece Pat, and their beloved dog Nicki as well as his exceptional private nurse Ulanda.
Jerry was born July 30, 1940 in Newell, WV. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Saundra Ann (Glass) McCuen; a son Jerry McCuen and wife Stella of Tampa, Florida; a daughter Sue Troino and husband Michael of Auburn, Georgia; a son Richard McCuen of Tulare, California; 8 grandchildren Anthony, Nicholas, Andrew and Lacy Troino, Seth, Caleb, Mitchell McCuen & Christine & husband Terry Berger, 1 great grandson Ayden; a brother Lawrence McCuen and wife Pat of East Liverpool, OH; a sister Delores and husband LeRoy Riddle of Newell, WV; a sister Judy Taylor and husband Boots of Newell, WV and a wide circle of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was son to the late Laurence E. McCuen (who died when Jerry was age 4) and the deceased Sarah (Chadwich McCuen) Mercer who raised Jerry with her late husband Robert Mercer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Donna Jean Wooley of WV.
A Vietnam War veteran, Jerry served 23 years before retiring as a (E7) Master Sergeant in Homestead, Florida. His medals, honors and citations include a Commendation Medal with 1 Oakleaf Cluster; an Air Force Good Conduct National Defense Service Medal with 6 Oakleaf Clusters; a Vietnam Service Medal; an Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon and a Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday 10/30/2014 at Smith’s Memorial Chapel in Winder, Georgia.
On Friday 10/31/2014 a Military funeral service will be held at Smith’s Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery located at 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road in Canton, Georgia.
