James Donald "J.D." Standridge

James “J.D.” Donald Standridge age 92 of Winder, Passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was a former member of The Winder First United Methodist Church. J. D. was a veteran of The United States Navy and served during WWII. He retired from the railroad, as an insurance salesman and finally as an operator for The Barrow County Roads and Bridges Department. J.D. was a member of The VFW, The Winder Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Jug Tavern Squares. He loved to play cards with his friends who all knew him as Duck and he was an avid fisherman.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Theoda Standridge; his wife, Martha Willoughby Standridge and a sister, Christine Odum. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Wheeler (Greg) of Statham; two sons, John Standridge (Yong) of Crestview, FL and Al Standridge of Winder and two grandchildren, Colton and J.J. Wheeler.

A funeral service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA with Pastor Shane Crowe officiating. Interment will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12PM until service time the day of the service.
