Gail Newell Williams

Gail Newell Williams, age 69 of Winder, passed away on August 28, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Lawana Rose Powell and Webb Hayes Newell, Jr. Gail grew up in Dayton, TN and graduated from Rhea Central High School in Dayton. She was a former member of Harrel Grove Baptist Church. She was a Barrow County school bus driver for many years and was very proud to have driven buses during the 1996 Summer Olympics. Gail was a huge Tennessee Volunteers football fan. She lived for her family.

Gail is survived by her children: Sherrie (Rich) Burton of PA, Lisa (Dino) Rocco of PA, Farredeh (Andrew) Pippin of Watkinsville, and Zonie (Matthew Downs) Johnson of Watkinsville; brother, Robert (Cheryl) Newell of Bogart; sister, Vickie (Jack) McCullough of Statham; and ten grandchildren: Michael, Hannah, Destiny, Alexa, Gabe, Brinley, Braylon, Brayden, Emery and Ellison.

A visitation for family and friends of Gail will be on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, GA. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm in Smith Memory Chapel. Donations may be made to Oconee Therapeutic Riding, P.O.
