Deborah Wariner, age 79 of Winder, GA passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Deborah was born in Atlanta, GA. She served as a Professional Counselor for over 30 years helping others. Deborah had a servant heart and she continued her work of advocacy and supporting people even after her retirement in 1992. After retirement, she moved and embedded herself in the community of Winder GA for her remaining years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a contributing member of the choir, a Sunday School teacher and volunteer visiting those of the church who were shut in. She had a love for music and was a self-taught pianist. She was often heard singing along to the radio or TV and enjoyed wide genre of music. As a community member, she was involved with the Lions Club, Barrow County Preservation Society and Winder Garden Club. Deborah was a Master Gardner and found great joy in planting. She had a beautiful yard full of roses and always looked forward to the blooming of Japanese Magnolias each spring. While Deborah was a kind spirit, she also held a sassy flare that was unique. She loved bold colors, jewelry and took great pride in her presentation. Her laughter was very distinct, and it was hard for others not to laugh along even if it wasn’t so funny. Most of all, Deborah had a love for her family and found her greatest joy in the small things that brought her close to them. When she wasn’t involved in her community, she could be found with her family. She enjoyed traveling and often took her family on her adventures. She was able to see the world abroad in her lifetime and encouraged others to experience other cultures. Deborah accepted changes in family dynamics upon death and divorce. She opened her heart to love, regardless of the path that brought them into her life. Wife of the late, William H. Wariner III. Deborah leaves behind her daughter & son-in law Rebecca & Terry Grissom. Grandchildren: Emily White, Jason White Jr, Andrew Grissom, Daniel Grissom, and Jordan Grissom. Jason White Sr, the father of Jason and Emily White.
The family will have an intimate celebration of Deborah Wariner’s life, in the spring when the Japanese Maples begin to bloom. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to further research of this horrific disease or The Lions Club Foundation- Empowering Services Fund which was near to Deborah’s heart in helping others.
