Billy Ray Deaton

Billy Ray Deaton, age 87, of Winder, GA passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. He grew up in Barrow County and was a graduate of Statham High School. Billy was a member of Winder First Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class and a member of Davidson Masonic Lodge. He was an avid camper. Billy retired from a long career with General Motors and then opened Clark & Deaton Company.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie Lou Segars and MC Deaton; his wife, Shirley Clark Deaton; and his sisters; Ann Brown and Nancy Riviere. He is survived by his son, Kevin Deaton of Buford; daughter, Robin (Rickey) Bailey of Winder; grandchildren: Leigh (Brad) Boggs and Whitney Bailey; and great grandchildren: Landon, Erin and Carter Boggs.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from noon until 2:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder,GA. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm in Smith Memory Chapel with Rev. Chad Mantooth officiating. The Burial will follow at Barrow Memorial Gardens. Donations in Memory of Billy Ray Deaton may be made to the Greater Vision Building Fund at Winder First Baptist Church, 625 Jefferson Hwy, Winder, GA.
