Betty Joyce Pitts

Betty Joyce Pitts, age 87, passed away in Conyers, GA on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Betty was born in Bethlehem, GA on December 20, 1935 to the late Richard McElhannon and Annie Mae Dillard. She was a high school graduate and worked as a Ward Clerk for Sears. Ms. Pitts was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Grace Covenant Church. Betty was known for being quiet and simple. She enjoyed reading on her iPad, playing the piano, and loved going on vacation to Florida, especially Panama City Beach. Ms. Pitts had a love for dogs, most importantly her Chihuahua, Pepper.

In addition to her parents, Betty Joyce Pitts is preceded in death by her husband John Pitts, her son John Pitts, and her niece Annette Herndon.

Betty is survived by her daughter Linda (Tim) Ball, her brother Jerry McElhannon, her grandchild Matthew Ball of Dacula, GA , and her nephew Tim (Jeanette) McElhannon.

There will be a visitation for Betty Joyce Pitts on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Smith Funeral Home in Winder, GA. There will be a funeral service on Sunday, April 23, 2023 starting at 2:00pm at Smith Memory Chapel in Winder, GA. There will be a burial taking place at Barrow Memorial Gardens shortly following the funeral service.
