Alton Jerome Maddox, age 88, of Winder, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014. He was a member of the Winder Masonic Lodge 333 for over 65 years; a member of the Winder First Baptist Church; and retired from Carwood Manufacturing as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Jackson and Beulah Oaks Maddox; brother, Julian Ray Maddox; sisters, Ruth M. Cheek and Runette M. Bradley. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Morris Maddox; sons, Al and Melanie Maddox; Grady & Melynda Maddox, both of Winder; five grandchildren, Hunter, Savannah, Jacob and Dalton Maddox; and Jessica (Randy) Mackey; and one great-grandchild, Ryder Mackey. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 11, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2014, in the Smith Memorial Chapel with Revs. Leon Pass and Ronnie Healan officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
