Wiley Matthews

Wiley Hayes Matthews, age 95, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Parkwood Village. He was born September 9, 1928 in Wilson County to the late Wiley Matthews and Mamie Hayes Matthews and was also predeceased by his wife Audrey Matthews and 12 of his 13 siblings.

Wiley was an US Air Force veteran and loved to play golf. He was a member and former deacon of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a former school board member of Wilson Christian School.

Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Pamela M. Winnig and her husband Michael of Wilson, Ann M. Oliver and her husband Charles of Carolina Shores and Vicky M Bass and her husband Kirk of Nashville, his sister Shelby Jean Bunn and her husband Roney of Wilson, six grandchildren, Shane Israel, Cam Israel, James Edwards, Kirkland Bass, Jordan Bass and Leighana Pace and 14 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 at 4 PM in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Stan Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
