Raymond Lee Vaughn, age 77, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Fernie Vaughn and Beulah Lamm Vaughn and was also predeceased by his wife Jackie S. Vaughn, brothers Roy Vaughn and Alton Braxton “A.B.” Vaughn and brother-in-law Ray Smith.
Raymond was a Wilson Firefighter for two years, a Wilson Police Officer for 27 years and a Wilson County Sheriff’s Deputy for eight years. He was also the owner of Vaughn’s Construction and worked for Bruce Stancil Refrigeration. He was a member of the Wilson Moose Lodge since 1967 and a Mason.
Left to cherish his memory is his son Raymond Jeffrey Vaughn and wife Allison of Wilson, his daughter Lynn V. West and husband Brad of Fremont, his sister Bloise Smith of Princeton, his grandchildren, Nicholas “Nick” Johnson and wife Stefanie of Sims, Chance Vaughn and Savannah of Wilson, Ayden West and Addison West of Fremont, his great grandchildren, Lane Johnson and Isla Kate Johnson of Sims and special nieces and nephews.
The family is very grateful and appreciative for the kindness shown to their loved one by the healthcare workers and volunteers from 3HC. Mr. Raymond Vaughn was very fond of all of you and spoke nothing but kind words about all of you.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 11, 2024 at 7 PM in the chapel of Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home. Burial will be held Tuesday March 12, 2024 at 11 AM in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 PM to 7 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
