Funeral services and interment in Evergreen Memorial Park will be private for the convenience of the family due to current COVID-19 considerations.
Maurice was employed with Universal Leaf Tobacco Company for over 25 years. He was a volunteer fireman with the Bakertown Volunteer Fire Department in Elm City and was a long-time member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, Wilson, NC. Maurice loved fishing, hunting and gardening. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Beth Webb (Kevin) of Macclesfield and Deborah Smith (Andrew) of Holly Springs; five grandchildren, Jeremy Long, Grace Smith, Lily Smith, Cooper Smith and Madeline Smith; one great-grandson, Gabriel Long; one brother, Raymond Coltrain (Kay) of Salisbury; and a brother-in-law he considered a brother, Lee Bass of Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Bass Coltrain; one son, Kenneth Allen Coltrain; his parents, Rufus Allen and Elizabeth Hardison Coltrain; and three brothers, Fredrick Coltrain, Wade Coltrain and Eldon Coltrain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Forest Hills Baptist Church, 1407 Forest Hills Rd. NW, Wilson, NC 27896.
