Mary Ann Howell

Wilson: Mary “Ann” Howell, age 89, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023. She was born September 28, 1933 in Vance County to the late Joshua Otha Hicks and Martha Jane Hicks. Ann was the wife of the late Marvin Ray Howell and was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters; George Hicks, Toby Hicks, Hazel Norwood, Rose Cockrell, Ruth Faucette, Edward Hicks, and Thomas “Sonny” Hicks.

Ann was a member of West Wilson Church of God for over 40 years. In 2007 she was nominated in the top ten of Sunday School teachers in Eastern North Carolina. She loved God and her church family dearly.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Marti Jones and her husband Johnny and Debbie Godwin and her husband Roy all of Wilson, her brother, Ben Hicks of Henderson, her sisters; Betty Boyd of Oxford and Margaret Robinson of Henderson, grandchildren; Brandon Jones and his wife Rhonda of Dobson, Stacey Boone and her husband Travis of Rural Hall, Chad Lucas and his wife Amanda of Greenville, Lance Lucas and his wife Victoria of Stantonsburg and Ashley Barnes and her husband Alan of Rocky Mount, great grandchildren: Chance Scott, Chloe Jones, Conner Lucas, Taylor Lucas, Aiden Barnes and Addison Barnes.

A Celebration of life will be held at the graveside, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 3 PM at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Brandon Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of Debbie Godwin, 5244 Quaker Rd., Wilson, NC 27893.
