Kenneth was a hard-working family man. He and Fred Martin started M&D carpet business and loved serving the community. Everyone who met him always enjoyed talking with him. He said everyone has a story to tell and he would listen and enjoyed all of the stories.
When he worked at the Harrietstown hall and greeted people coming in and always had a smile on his face. He loved volunteering with Nancy at the winter carnivals selling chili and hot chocolate. In addition, he was involved with the Lions Club, Elks Club and on the board of directors at the Credit Union. Ken and Nancy spent several years at their cottage on Eagle Pond near Malone where they volunteered at the local senior center selling michigans and Nancy’s best brownies and peanut butter pies. They made many friends in that area.
Kenneth is survived by his 2 daughters Kim Monteith (Bill), Karrie McAvoy (Dave); 3 sons Keith (Deanna) DeMars, Kraig (Ana) DeMars and Kristopher DeMars. He has 10 grandchildren Kevin, Ashlie, Keir Anna, Emily, Andres, Andrew, Lauren, Matthew and Michael. In addition, he has two great grandchildren Noelle and Penelope. His face would light up when he saw any of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his cherished siblings: sisters Charlene Staves, Nancy Hosley and brother Clifford (Gloria) DeMars.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life Nancy and his son Kevin DeMars. He looked forward to the day that they would all be united again.
Kenneth will be remembered for his smile and friendly personality. He enjoyed being with his family and friends the most. As we bid farewell to a wonderful man, we will take comfort knowing that his legacy will live on in the lives of all he touched and who had the privilege to know him.
