The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash St. N, Wilson, NC.
Surviving are one daughter, Kirsten Ward Lucas of Walstonburg; one son, Charlie Donald Ward of Wilson; five grandchildren, Tyler Lucas, Haleigh Ward, C.J. Ward, Alexander Richmond and Makenzie Richmond; two brothers, James E. Ward Jr. of Four Oaks and Matt “Randy” Ward of Wilson; one step-brother, Johnny Cashatt of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Ward and Dorothy Lancaster Cashatt, and his step-father, John Cashatt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Carolina Heart Institute at Vidant Medical Center, 526 Moye Blvd., Greenville, NC 27834.
