Ana was born in Colon, Panama on January 14, 1941 daughter of the late Eustace Wong, Sr. and Lillian Lee Wong. She was the oldest of five children, helping her father with the family business and helping raise her siblings in her youth. She met and married her husband Wayne while he was serving in the US Army in the Canal Zone of Panama. After their marriage, she moved to the United States and worked to build their family, moving many times and living in several states during their first 10 years of marriage. In 1975, they moved to Wilson, NC where they remained until her death. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. She had a successful career as an administrative professional, and she worked for the City of Wilson as City Clerk and Records Manager for most of her career. She retired in 2003. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, playing bingo, traveling, and cooking, but her greatest joy was gathering her family together over a delicious meal that she had prepared. She was deeply loved will be greatly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eustace and Lillian Wong and by her brother Eustace Wong, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years Wayne Clarence Heder, her sons Daniel Lee Heder (Barbara) of Rocky Mount and David Wayne Heder of Clayton, her daughter Jacqueline Marie Mims (Whit) of Winston Salem, her sisters Alicia Chen (Ricky) of Panama City, Panama, Jacqueline Ho (Enrique) of Murrieta, CA and Patricia Wong of Panama City, Panama, her grandchildren, Angie Batts of Wilson, Barbie Aliff (Scott) of Bailey, Maya and Lindsay Mims of Winston Salem, and Lilly Heder of Clayton, her great-grandchildren, Courtney Houston (Scout) of Sneads Ferry, Anna and Dawson Batts of Wilson, and Hunter and Cody Aliff of Bailey.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, December 21, 2022 from 4 to 6 pm at Thomas–Yelverton Funeral Home in Wilson, NC.
