Alfred Vernon Wall, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Wake Forest, NC on September 10, 2023, surrounded by his adoring family. Vernon was born on March 3, 1943, to the late Purnell Paul Wall and Lillian Naomi Peacock Wall. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vernice Wall, and sisters, Elsie Petway and Shirl Smith.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan Joyner Wall; brothers, Jimmy Wall, Gene Wall (Joyce), and Jerry Wall (Rachel); sister, Fran Van Hall (Russ); children, Verna Wall Parrish (Robert) and James Wall; grandchildren, Michael Wall, Katelyn Wall, and Whitney Orona (Jake) and great grandson Benjamin Orona.
Vernon served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve from 1965 - 1971. He was a respected Real Estate Broker with 48 years’ experience, 30 of those years with Fonville Morisey. He was a General Contractor for over 40 years and built many beautiful homes in Durham, NC with the help of his son and his brothers.
Vernon was a devoted family man and he was “the leader of the pack.” He did so much for his family for which they are eternally grateful. Vernon’s calm presence, witty humor, protective and kind soul will always be remembered and he will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.
He loved golfing, especially with his son, grandson, brothers and nephews and taking many golfing trips to the beach.
