William J Sutton (Bill), age 86, passed peacefully at his home in Leland, NC on Friday, October 28th surrounded by family. He was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late William and Catherine Sutton and raised in Bayonne, NJ. Bill married the love of his life, Linda Matweishyn, in 1959 and joined the US Army the same year where he served as a medic until 1962. After the military, they moved back to Bayonne where Bill renovated homes and businesses. In 1970, he and Linda moved their family to Bricktown, NJ where he was owner of Sutton Construction and built custom homes alongside his father. In 1985, he became a Brick Township Building Inspector. He later moved to Manasquan, NJ and owned Tiara Limousine. He and his wife retired to Longneck, DE then moving to Bradenton, FL and finally relocating to Leland, NC.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Linda Sutton, his daughter Denise Sutton (Wimauma, FL), daughter Audrey Surak and husband Clem (Wilmington, NC), son William Sutton and wife Christel (Manasquan, NJ) , his sister Maureen Sutton (East Brunswick, NJ), 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many other friends and family.
He will be known for his beautiful piano playing, storytelling and his many home renovation projects. He loved spending time with his family and was always up for a party. He loved the water and spent many years boating and fishing in NJ and FL.
