Roy (R.P.) Hinson Jr., age 72, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at his home. Roy was born on April 5, 1941 in Whiteville, NC to the late Roy P. Hinson, Sr. and Ruby Tyree Hinson. He is also predeceased in death by his sisters, Geraldine (Jere) Hinson Nelson and Mildred Hinson Phillips and his loving in-laws, Bill and Lela Watson.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda Watson Hinson; his daughter, Regina Hinson Fargnoli (Angelo); and one grandson, Taylor Martin Fargnoli who he adored. Roy is also survived by many cousins; one very special cousin he loved, Wayne Tyree and wife Connie. Also his faithful companion “Sam” the dog.
Roy lived and loved life. His heart was driven by the love he so easily gave to his family. He often said that is was “his” honor to have his wife Linda. He often told people, with a large grin on his face, “THAT WOMAN LOVES ME”. He adored his daughter “Gina” and always provided love and support for anything that mattered to her.
Roy thought that God had given him the best He had to offer. Then, in 1990, his grandson Taylor Martin Fargnoli was born. At that point, Roy thought, “God has actually upped the ante”. Taylor was the light of his world: he now had a fishing and hunting buddy.
Roy loved life and people, but found his biggest blessing to be his family.
Roy was an electrician who worked union construction during his early years. He also worked for CP&L. He retired at age 49 and opened Roy Hinson Electric Company, Inc.
