She was born to Virginia Delores Register Stoudenmire and Charles Melvin Stoudenmire, Sr. on October 20, 1944.
Peggy enjoyed taking dance classes at a young age and was a top student in her class. She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1963 and started working for City Optical shortly after. She obtained her CNA from Cape Fear Community College in the 1980s and started working in a long term care facility afterwards. In the early 1990s, she spent a lot of time as an extra on Matlock, which she enjoyed and was very proud of.
Peggy spent many years as a partial caregiver to her mother, Delores, whom she loved very much. She enjoyed taking care of others and always made sure everyone’s needs were met before her own. She also had a silly side which included countless jokes and laughs as it was one of her favorite things to do. She could light up a room with her smile. No matter the hardship, she always remained positive and strong.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Delores Stoudenmire, her sister Linda Stoudenmire Vernon; brother, Charles Melvin Stoudenmire Jr., and her infant daughter Sherry Lynn Holt.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Annette Holt Lewis (Ryan); granddaughters Karen Holt Schneider (Dan) and Tabitha Lynn Conway (Lukas); brother-in-law Marion Vernon and five great-grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.
We would like to thank Azalea Health and Rehab for the wonderful care they provided for Peggy over the last eight years.
