Pattie M. Capps

Pattie Moore Capps, age 96, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on March 27, 2022. She was born in Frenches Creek Township, Kelly, Bladen County, NC, on September 21, 1925, to John Frederick Moore and Martha Elizabeth (Mattie) Johnson Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas E. Capps, her son, Barry S. Allen, her daughter, Janet Faith Allen, and her son, Jeffrey Mark Hufham.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Allen Broussard (Vincent), her son, Gary M. Allen (Mary) and her son, Robert E. Hufham (David Ferguson), six grandchildren, Ryan Broussard, LeSchelle Allen Lewis, Lauren Williams, Dillon Elks, Dustin Elks, Mitchell Hufham, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews, especially Teddy Simpson Tippitt and Kay Barnhill Beasley.

Mrs. Capps was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She worked many types of jobs, including caring for the elderly in their homes.

She loved to dance and enjoyed a very social life with many friends after her children were grown. She raked many clams and oysters from the Masonboro Sound and cooked many country-styled meals.

Our family extends a grateful thank you to all the nurses, aides, management staff, and medical team who loved and gave special care to our loved one at Azalea Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to the care given to her by the Lower Cape Fear Life Care team as she was transitioning in her final months.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Coble Funeral Service Chapel, 1155 Shipyard Blvd. The Funeral Service will be held at Coble Funeral Service Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 with Rev. Roland Hamby officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon afterwards at the funeral home.
