Pat was the first female to earn her certification in welding at Cape Fear Community College and she was one of the first women to be hired at Babcock &Willcock as a welder. She returned to school at the age of 45 to obtain her GED. At the age of 50 she began her education in Waste Water Management and continued until she achieved the highest level of training in her field. After numerous years of employment at Babcock &Wilcock, she later obtained a position with the city as the Waste Water Operator at the 23rd street facility.
Pat was the last surviving of eight children; she was preceded in death by her seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Tricia C. Peay; her son, John G. Jarvis Jr.; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous other family members.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1 at 12:00 p.m. at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 11 - 12 prior to the service.
